This, world, for those of you who don’t know, is Walter Matthau.

Walter Matthau is an actor. Although in his younger days he acted in several older films, perhaps his best known roles among the members of my generation are as  grumpy, but still lovable old men. To see what I mean, check out his performance as Mr. Wilson in Dennis the Menace.

Below is Hope Velthouse’s interpretation of Walter Matthau.

Although he may just be a stuffed manatee, this Walter Matthau has a story too. Here is Hope to explain her choice of name and the uncanny resemblance of Walter Matthau the manatee to Walter Matthau the actor.

As Hope Elyse told me, it’s the jowls.

And, just for fun, here’s the rest of the family.

First, there is Bruce, the giant pink bunny.

Next up is the Major General, a walrus sporting fabulous facial hair and tusks and quite possibly named after this character.

And finally, we have Rosamund Pike (on the left) snuggling up with Walter Matthau.

And that’s all I have to say on the matter. Farewell!
